Clarity, joy and vitality.
Meaning
After the half-light of the Moon, everything grows bright, and without reservation. The Sun is the card of clarity, joy in life and success. It shows a time in which you are seen, in which things work out and you feel that your strength has returned. Much that was complicated before becomes simple, not because it has changed but because you now see it in the light.
In life the Sun shows up as success that feels natural, as recognition, as recovery after a dark phase, as joy in your own body and in the present moment. It stands for children and for the childlike in you, for play, curiosity and the ability to be glad without immediately thinking of the catch. It also stands for truth lying openly on the table: under this card there is little to hide and little reason to do so.
The Sun invites you to show yourself and not to make your light smaller than it is. Ask yourself where you are still keeping yourself in the shadows out of modesty or habit. Success is allowed to be easy now, and joy needs no justification. At the same time, the child without a saddle reminds you that this lightness rests on trust, not on control. Whoever turns towards the light like the sunflowers grows without having to strain.
Advice: Step into the light and enjoy it.
Reversed
Reversed, the sun is still shining, but something is in front of it. Your joy is clouded, a success is a long time coming or feels hollow, even though everything looks dazzling from the outside. Perhaps you are exhausted and cannot accept good things right now; perhaps you are comparing yourself and find your own light too weak. Often the problem is not the situation but the cloud you are holding in front of it yourself.
The reversed card can also show overconfidence: so much self-assurance that it outshines others, plans that leave reality out of the calculation, or a cheerfulness that papers over difficult things. Ask yourself whether you are forbidding yourself joy right now or using it so that you do not have to look. Both can be resolved by checking honestly where you stand. The sun waits patiently behind the cloud.
Love and relationships
In love, the Sun stands for warmth, openness and a connection in which both of you are allowed to grow. A relationship blossoms under this card: laughing together, lightness, plans that are fun, perhaps also the subject of family and children. There is little to hide, and that feels good. If you are single, the Sun invites you to show yourself as you are, instead of offering a version of yourself you consider more presentable. Whoever likes you in the light really likes you.
Work and money
At work, the Sun shows recognition, successful projects and work that visibly bears fruit. Your achievements are noticed, your plans find support, and you have the energy to see things through. The card suits presentations, completions and anything that needs visibility. In money matters it points to a good phase in which effort pays off. Use it with a clear head: joy in success is justified, overconfidence in financial decisions is not. What you build now will last longest if it stands on realism.
As the card of the day
Today the Sun invites you to be glad, for no reason and without reservation. Get out into the light if you possibly can, show what you can do, and accept praise instead of brushing it aside. Do something that is simply fun. Today you are allowed to be light-hearted; that is not carelessness but strength.
The image
A large yellow sun with a calm face fills the upper part of the card; its rays alternate, straight and wavy. Below it, a naked child wearing a garland of flowers and a red feather rides a white horse, with no saddle and no reins. The child spreads its arms wide and holds a large red banner that billows in the wind. Behind the horse stands a grey stone wall, over which four sunflowers rise, turning towards the child. The sky is pale blue. The straight and wavy rays show light and warmth, the two gifts of the sun. The child riding without a saddle stands for trust that needs no safety net, the wall for a boundary that lies behind you. The sunflowers do what everything alive does under this card: they turn towards the light.
